What's a waterfall? I hear they're awesome to smoke out of but I've never seen or used one.

A waterfall is basically the reverse of a gravity bong. Instead of breathing in smoke directly from the burning pot, waterfall bongs use a change in pressure to fill a bottle with smoke. Advantages: cooler smoke, cooler way to smoke, more efficient use of marijuana. Disadvantages: needs water, requires you to make (or buy) one.

If you'd like to know how to make your own, I'll point you to Ralph Moritz's blog, where there's a dead-simple explanation of how to make a waterfall:

You will need:

• 500ml plastic water or soft-drink bottle
• 4mm open-ended socket
• Lighter

Using the lighter, or a sharp object, make a hole the size of a 5c piece in the base of the bottle. Make a hole in the lid big enough to fit the socket…and you’re done! Now just pack your weed into the socket, fit the socket into the hole in the lid, fill the bottle with water (cover the hole in the base to keep the water from escaping), light your weed and uncover the hole. The water will pour out and the smoke will be drawn into the bottle. Once all the water has escaped, once again cover the hole, remove the lid and smoke it up!

(Note: If you don't have a socket, you can use a bowl of some sort -- pretty much anything that's safe to smoke out of will work just fine.)
